U.04 Factor-Label Method

Day 03 - Review of Worksheet 4A

Last night I graded Worksheet 4A and I saw a hot mess of guesswork and copying, much of which was flat-out wrong. That tells me my initial demo of the technique did not make sense to you and that we need to spend time walking through a bunch of problems together. Once you get in the habit of applying the factor-label method it is an easy technique that requires little work on your part. That's the whole point of the method. But to get there we need to pay close attention to what we're doing while we're still learning the technique!

So today we're going to revisit Worksheet 4A and as a class we will work through each one. You will be writing these on notebook paper, which you will turn in at the end of the bell so I can treat them as worksheet corrections. As soon as that is complete, I expect you to re-work Worksheet 4B to ensure that it properly makes use of the factor-label method and conversion factors to solve the assigned problems.

The most common mistake was not understanding how to set up a factor-label table in the first place, but many people also messed up conversion factors in general. Like I said, it was a hot mess. Stick with me today and we'll get it sorted out together.
