Newton's Laws of Motion help us to anticipate how objects will react to forces being applied. We can use Newton's Laws of Motion to determine how much power we will need to accomplish specific tasks (like moving a refrigerator or a couch) and that can save us a lot of wasted time experimentally figuring such things out. Later in this school year, we're going to add a layer to our knowledge of Newton's laws to achieve mechanical advantage, but we have a couple more units to get through between here and there.
