Day 06 - Word Problem Tips
Here are some simple tips for solving word problems in this class:
- determine what the fundamental question is
- determine the units you need in your answer
- make a list of all given information (especially conversion factors!)
- check to see if there is a trick in the question (i.e., know exactly what the question is asking)
- if permitted, check your logic with that of your neighbor - do you both understand the question the same way?
Use this knowledge to complete Worksheet 4C, which is due by the end of the bell (or it becomes homework preparatory to the test tomorrow!). Because today is a Tuesday, I will be here after school to help people who are still confused. The test will only cover the factor-label method and it will be about half as long as any one of the worksheets you've had to work on. It will be the first grade of the second quarter, which starts on Monday.
