Day 05 - Brainstorm Designs

Your first step today will be to secure your team's bin and ensure that your team name is clearly legible on the front of the bin. Then, as a team, obtain your bundle of 30 popsicle sticks and start puzzling out how many sticks you'll need for each component of your trebuchet:

• base
• beam
• counterweight
• sling

The scale of the trebuchet will be defined by the number of popsicle sticks in your bundle: 30. You will have to make efficient use of your sticks to produce a functioning trebuchet, so spend significant effort mapping out how each piece will be used before you start to glue anything (we will NOT be gluing today!). You are to use the sticks to help you brainstorm designs. Once you have some ideas picked out, start drawing out a workable design and be sure to specify how many popsicle sticks neeeded for each component. You will be able to modify the sticks (cut them, punch holes in them, etc.) during the build phase, but not today. It is also possible to bend the sticks, but that is a more complicated procedure and most of you are best off not doing that.
