Day 04 - Refine Your Design
In our previous class, you were tasked with developing a draft design for our recycling infographic. I have graded what you turned in, and there is a lot of room for change in each design. Ask yourself the following questions while studying your work:
- Would a student know whether the plastic in their hand is trash or recycling, based purely on my infographic?
- Does anything in my design distract from my message?
- Does my infographic make good use of shapes to communicate my message?
- Does my infographic make good use of colors to communicate my message?
- Is my infographic able to avoid reliance on text to communicate my message?
- Can my infographic be seen and used at a 2-meter or greater distance? (few people get closer than that to signage)
- Is there anything I can remove from my design that will not reduce the impace of the message?
Based on that analysis, you should be in a good position to spend today redrawing your design. Make smart use of shape and color and above all, ensure that your final design achieves the stated goal of empowering students to quickly recognize whether they are holding trash plastic or recycling plastic. Your design needs to serve a purpose.
