Day 04 - Inkscape Bezier Curves

Note: because yesterday we had to spend the entire bell getting students up through Day 3's expectations, even though today is technically our fifth day of vector graphics, we are doing the lesson plan for day four.

In Chrome, open this link to a tutorial on using Inkscape to create a simple graphic - this is the coffee cup thing we continued to work on yesterday. By this point you should be getting a feel for parts of Inkscape's interface and how it works.

Today we're going to add bezier curves. They are not intuitive and will take some practice to draw them the way you want them to appear. Therefore, adhere to the tutorial's advice to add the grid and snap your lines to that grid. Counting the grid squares can get a little tedious, but it ensures consisted results, which will reduce your effort in the long run and save you a lot of fiddling.

After completing the coffee cup tutorial, move on to this tutorial on tricks for using text in vector graphic design. Your task is to make a graphic of your first name (or nickname) using the techniques shown in the tutorial.
