Day 01 - Worksheet A - WebQuest
Today you will complete a WebQuest that I have posted as a digital assignment on Google Classroom. Note that there are a lot of pseudoscience Websites claiming to know about skin health. Steer clear of those sources! Using Google searches, answer the following questions and copy the URL of whatever Website provided the information to you:
- How, specifically, does lotion help the skin?
- How deeply into the skin layers do lotions penetrate?
- What prevents lotions from penetrating any further into the body?
- List the most common ingredients used in lotions, and add a comment to each item explaining its purported value to the end product (i.e., what does it do that the other ingredients don’t?)
- Skin lotions run a broad gamut of prices. What do scientists say about the differences between expensive lotions and cheap lotions? On what are the price differences based?
- List all the synonyms you can find for “lotion,” and explain how each one is unique (e.g., a balm contains beeswax and tends to be firm, like Chapstick)
- Which company sells more total lotion each year, Jergens or Aveeno?
- Which of those companies has a major presence in Cincinnati? Under what corporate name?
- Why is counterfeiting considered by lotion companies to be a major problem?
