Day 10 - Lay Out Pieces on Foam Core

The trick here is to faithfully transfer measurements from your 3 orthographic drawings to your quarter-sheet of foam core board. For some of you, re-scaling will be needed. If the dimensions of your drawing are too big to fit onto the foam core you have available, I recommend that you try scaling everything down by 2/3. That means if you have a wall that is 12cm long, multiply it by 2 (getting 24cm) and divide it by 3 (getting 8cm) and then you will know how long that wall would be at 2/3 scale.

The tricky part is in figuring out the actual dimensions of your roof panels. Unlike your walls, which face the same angles as the 3 orthographic views, your roof panels are all offset from that at custom angles. You will need to use your knowledge of geometry - specifically, techniques using right-angle triangles to find unknown leg lengths - to triangulate your way from known measurements to unknown measurements. I will do my best to talk you through this, though if you remember enough of your geometry you should be able to handle it without my assistance.
