Day 14 - Glue Up Walls & Floor
With everything cut, it is time to apply glue! Elmer's white glue is a great glue for this kind of work. However, we don't have the time to let each seam dry to set, so instead we will be using hot melt glue guns, like you did for the trebuchets we built over the winter. You just need a modest amount of glue to tack these walls together. They're not heavy or especially large. Just a dot of glue here and there, then press the pieces together and hold them for 30 seconds. Then move on to the next piece. Be careful not to accidentally glue your pieces to the table and do NOT glue near the cutting mats.
Unsurprisingly, once you start gluing things together you will find that you cannot simply sling a rubber band around things and drop them in your team project bin any more - there isn't enough room in the bins for that. Instead, we are going to designate 3 separate zones on the floor in the classroom, one for Bell 4/5, one for Bell 7/8, and one for Bell 10. You will gently set your glued-up model in the appropriate zone for your bell. Be respectful of the work of your peers and be careful not to bang against other models on the floor.
