Day 01: Defining Periodicity

Today we need to explore what it means for a table to be periodic. We'll start with a calendar, because that is a periodic table with which everyone is already familiar.

After getting a sense for what defines periodicity, we're going to spend some time decoding a periodic table of hip-hop music. It's something I put together, so there are bound to be errors - I am almost as ignorant about music as you might guess - but if you work at it you should be able to figure out the groupings and how it fits together.

Following that, you will work in teams to develop your own periodic tables. Each team will pick a topic that has at least two overlapping layers of meaning to make this work, then you will use Google Sheets to build your periodic tables.
