Unit 10 - Soap Production Activity

Today we're going to make our soap. Procedure:

1. each team gets 2 paper cups and 1 plastic container
2. cup #1 gets used to measure all oil/fat your team plans to use; pour that oil/fat into the plastic container, then discard the cup (or save it for use as a disposable soap mold)
3. cup #2 get used to measure all the water your team needs
4. tare out the scale with the water cup on it and slowly add lye until the required amount of lye has been added
5. use a popsicle stick to stir the lye mixture until it gets hot, then pour it into your plastic container and continue to stir until the mixture is homogeneous.
6. pour soap into molds and set aside to cure
